against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against
the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
- Luke 4:5-7 - 5The devil
led him (Jesus) up to a high place and showed him

for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want
to. 7So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
- B. satan's power is only at God's permission
and within God's appointed timetable:
- Daniel 2:20-21 - 20 and said: "Praise be to
the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. 21 He changes
times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes
them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
- Daniel 4:17 - 17 " 'The decision is

throw off their fetters." 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord
scoffs at them.
- Psalm 33:10-11 10 The LORD
foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart
through all generations.

- Matthew 8:28-32 - The Healing of Two
Demon-possessed Men 28When he arrived at the other side in the region of the
Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs
met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
29"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they
shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed
time?" 30Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.
31The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of
pigs." 32He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into
the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died
in the water.

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith,
because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the
same kind of sufferings.

Satan has asked to sift you as wheat.

53Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on
me. But this is your hourwhen darkness
4. God is Sovereign over satan's
life taking power
- John 8:44 - 44You belong
to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He
was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there
is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a
liar and the father of lies.
- Revelation 2:10 - 10Do not be afraid of what you
are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some
of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be
faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of
5. God is Sovereign over satan's
hand in natural disasters

"Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he
is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." 9
"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10 "Have you not
put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have
blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread
throughout the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has,
and he will surely curse you to your face." 12 The
LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands,
but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out
from the presence of the LORD.

struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are
dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was
bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12When Jesus saw her, he called
her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your
infirmity." 13Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she
straightened up and praised God. 14Indignant because Jesus had healed on the
Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for
work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath." 15The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of
you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to
give it water? 16Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom
Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath
day from what bound her?"

asked to sift you as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you,
Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back,
strengthen your brothers."
